The Clarity of Night Short Fiction Contest – Ascension

Ascension, © Copyright 2009 Jason EvansAttention all writers seeking fresh inspiration and opportunity for 2009:

Jason Evans, author of The Clarity of Night blog, is conducting his first contest of the year: the Clarity of Night Ascension Short Fiction Contest.

Past participants in the Clarity of Night short fiction contests know just how dynamic, supportive, and inspiring these events can be.  Writers at all levels share their work, offer feedback to others, and enjoy the chance to read the inspired scrawlings of dozens of authors.

Jason Evans writes:

Since my last contest was in the summer, I’m pumping this one up! More and bigger prizes!! First place will earn an Amazon gift certificate of $50. Also, I’m adding additional prizes for second and third place winners of the Readers Choice Award.

The Clarity of Night Ascension Short Fiction Contest will accept entries beginning today, but will officially open and begin posting entries on Wednesday, January 7, 2009.

As always, entries are limited to 250 words in any genre or form, provided they are inspired by the contest photo (and for poetic entries, demonstrate a basic “narrative movement” as might be found in fiction).

Once again, all writers are invited to participate, and I highly encourage you to join in the fun if your time allows.  Don’t just submit: visit often throughout the week to read the other entries, comment, and take in the creativity.  Personally, I think the best part about Evans’ contests is this spirit of collaboration that they inspire in participants.

Good Luck!
